They work in new media, photography, poetry, sculpture, and sound. They use minimalism as a form of protest. They abstract, exploring themes of death, disaster, loss, and unrest. They manipulate ambiguous forms to ask existential and rhetorical questions.
Using the language of minimalism to contain the empathic, THEY surveys the work of 15 interdisciplinary artists whose work spans the breadth of new-media, poetry, and sculpture. Finding common ground in the photographic, signifiers to form, place, and identity are presented as ambiguous signs for memory to abstract, creating a space where the infinite takes precedence over the finite. However dissociative this body of work becomes, the familiar is important in summoning any existential questions the forms may present.
