InLiquid believes that everyone–no matter their location, career, style, or background–can and should be a collector. To show that, we asked people what they collect and why. With incredible feedback, we found out there’s nothing you can’t collect!
Today we meet a collector of wits, Sam Seifman. He shares with us one particular artwork from his collection that he likes the most: a painting of Bill Murray–chilled. And really, there’s no better way to describe the actor/comedian we’ve loved since Caddy Shack.
Tell us everything about this collection! What attracted you to this? What do you like most about it? Which one is your favorite?
I honestly started as I became an adult and had an apartment space to fill. I didn’t know I had any interest in collecting anything until I had empty walls, empty dressers, and empty counter space. I like having seemingly unimportant pieces that represent generally superficial parts about me.

Together, they help paint a larger picture of who I am and it becomes more meaningful. I have this painting of frozen Bill Murray called Chill Murray; that is my favorite.
When did you start your collection?
Probably 2014. At the time, I felt I was a weird person and would rather show it than tell.
What else do you enjoy collecting?
Different currencies.
What inspires you most about having your collection in your home?
I don’t find it particularly inspiring, haha, I just enjoy having it!
