Christmas Trees by Linda Brenner

Artist statement: “I have been working on the “Christmas Tree” project since 2011. The trees have been collected from near my house over the years when they have been discarded after the holiday (sometimes the day after Christmas). I have always found it sad to see them lying on the sidewalk, stripped of their finery, no longer useful for the celebration now past.
After storing them in the yard, I slowly began to return each tree into an object of beauty to again be admired. Most of the accouterments I used were from the many collections of objects that I had on hand in the studio – buttons, beads, shells, wire, wine corks, and some specific material having special meaning to me. They now stand alone or in groups to be shared and enjoyed by others.” Linda Brenner
