Curated by InLiquid in partnership with Vintage Wine Bar and Bistro, Intimate Variations is an exhibition of paintings and photographs which offer differing ideas of what “intimate” can mean. Taking inspiration from very disparate locations, events, or moments, the artists in Intimate Variations are brought together by a concept rather than a specific process or mode of working.

Matt Barrick has traveled the globe as a musician, often spending as little as a few hours in a city before moving on. He began using his photography as an attempt to capture those brief, quickly passing moments and to connect in a more meaningful way with the people and places he encountered. His photograph in this exhibition was taken in the streets of Buenos Aires.

Amanda Stevenson Lupke has logged over 15 years of professional photographic experience in Basel, London, New York, and her hometown of Philadelphia. Her work has been featured in a variety of exhibitions throughout the MidAtlantic region, international publications, and advertising campaigns – including Harper Collins Publishing, Miller Brewing Company and Cox Communications.

Benjamin C. Pierce’s work concerns the human figure — sometimes treated directly but more often obliquely, with strong abstracting elements like defocus or motion blur highlighting form and gesture. The precise qualities of palette and light that emerge in the final prints ripened over months and years.

Lauren Rinaldi is originally from Brooklyn, New York. She received her BFA in Painting from Tyler School of Art in 2006. She is a painter, illustrator and has worked on various projects with The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program. Her most recent visual works have been exhibited at Paradigm Gallery + Studio in Philadelphia and Scope Miami Beach – International Contemporary Art Show in Miami. She Currently resides in Philadelphia with her husband and son.
