Musical Performance with Jane Carver and the Wilt Family
Join us for an evening of sound and music performances by Jane Carver and The Wilt Family. The performances will take place amidst the artwork at the Lacey & Phillips Gallery. Jane Carver is a Philadelphia-based artist and composer, primarily interested with the relationships between melody and memory, accumulation and decay. She sings with Svitanya, a choir specializing in Eastern European folk music, and is a former Artist-in-Residence at the Association for Cultural Equity: The Alan Lomax Archive. Recent performances include Vox Populi, University City Arts League, The Art Academy of Cincinnati, Transformer, The Queens Museum and the Ugly Duckling Presse Lighght Reading Series.
The Wilt Family is the first solo project of guitarist and vocalist Lance Mascarenas. His debut performance was opening for Lydia Lunch during her 2016 tour. The Wilt Family songs feature brooding, dark and honest lyrics and a powerful live show.
On view in the Lacey & Phillips Gallery is Elemental, an exhibition of artwork by artists that take inspiration from the four elements. The artwork is abstract, stripped to essentials, ethereal, and speaks to the physicality and elegance of the natural world. Lacey & Phillips Gallery is an exhibition space emphasizing engagement through active programming. Curated and managed by InLiquid, exhibitions are punctuated with artist-organized events, workshops, and studio projects.
The Lacey & Phillips Gallery is located at 30 S 7th Street.
