Trent Davis Bailey will talk about his work and new book, The North Fork.

Trent Davis Bailey (b. 1985) is an American photographer born and based in Colorado whose work pulls from personal resonances of loss, trauma, family, and geography, particularly as they relate to ecology, place, memory, and time.

The North Fork takes its form from several threads of Trent Davis Bailey's childhood memories — including a rift between his father and an uncle, macrobiotic meals prepared by his aunt, and the premature death of his mother — and suggests how those remembrances tie into small-scale family farms and wilderness in the rural Intermountain West. Photography, here, becomes a tool for piecing together a map of the artist's own complicated personal terrain, mending and rerouting notions of place and family. The book's photographic sequence is inspired by Bailey's personal narrative arc, his search for community, and his evolving definition of family, all held within a river valley on Colorado's Western Slope.
