Cut & Paste: New Mixed-Media and Digital Collages @ Crane Hall
Exhibition closed: November 7, 2014
InLiquid presents Cut & Paste: New Mixed-Media and Digital Collages, a solo exhibition by artist member Jen McCleary, at The Hall at Crane Arts from September 11 – November 7, 2014. This show presents her digital and mixed-media work, which explores the connections between these two very different ways of creating layered collage images. Her images are inspired by scientific imagery, dreamlike imagined landscapes, dualities such as light/dark, complexity/simplicity, and the obvious beauty of nature and the sometimes hidden beauty of urban decay.
Jen McCleary attended Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, receiving a BFA in Painting/Printmaking. She also received a Certificate in Print Design at University of the Arts, and an interdisciplinary MLA focusing on art history and society at University of Pennsylvania, where she worked as a graphic designer. She is currently working as a freelance artist and designer and lives in Drexel Hill, PA.
McCleary writes about her art:
“The creation of an image or piece of jewelry is somewhat like assembling a puzzle, although I don’t usually try to control what the end result will be. I seldom set out to create a piece that looks a particular way or explores a specific topic. Rather, I let the materials guide the process and consider my work a form of exploration.”
The public hours for Crane Arts are noon – 6 pm, Wednesday – Saturday, and until 9 pm on the Second Thursday of each month.
