PD Packard – Fall Issue of Anti-Heroin Chic

PD Packard has been featured in the Fall Issue of Anti-Heroin Chic. In the interview feature, PD Packard talks us through her life’s work, and the multifaceted experiences she strives to create, reminding us that “the most sacred aspect of art is the artist’s hand upon their work” and the many worlds we stumble into, and out of, along the way.

My art spans many disciplines and areas. Being a self taught, learning and experimenting has become an ingrained part of my practice and as such there is a diverse range of subject matter and on some occasions style. Majority of my works are oil paintings, created in series, in a representational style,. Some of note are “Buddhas on Handmade Paper”, “Bicycles in Snow” “#Savetheelephants”. The common thread in my diverse art is the feeling of serenity and tranquility, with the ultimate objective in every painting to capture the harmonious existence of different elements in nature, that evidences life is strong, calm and beautiful.

In my work I carefully navigate personal and intergenerational memory through visuospatial reconstruction. There is an active absence of the figure in my work, as if these scenes are the aftermath of an event, possibly still in motion.
