A Different Vision – Call for Art – A Tactile Art Show

A Different Vision – Call for Art – A Tactile Art Show

This Deadline Expired: Thursday, August 11, 2022

A Different Vision returns to Plymouth Center for the Arts! This is the fifth time over a span of 15 years that the Plymouth Guild has presented this show to an appreciative audience. It is a unique and popular exhibition that breaks traditional barriers by actively encouraging all visitors to experience and explore the art on display through touch and all other senses. The experience challenges the notion that sight is essential for creating and enjoying exceptional art, while emphasizing touch as a fundamental part of our daily lives and overall sensual experience.

All sighted and non-sighted artists are eligible. Artwork must be both visual appealing and engaging for the blind with no sharp edges. This is an open exhibition that demonstrates how art can be made accessible to blind and partially sighted individuals.

Specifically designed to include visually impaired visitors to the Center, A Different Vision 2D and 3D artworks will be available to be touched and considered by all.

Artists may exhibit up to two (2) entries that may include sculptures, assemblages, pottery, fiber art, reliefs, kinetic art, wall hangings, woodworks, textured canvas, interactive art and other three-dimensional mediums, and 2D artworks with 3D elements.

My work is primarily in oils and focuses on urban street scenes and still life settings made up of vintage housewares and toys. I am interested in all things old as I believe they have the most interesting stories to tell. Buildings and objects from the past both bring back memories for those who have previously interacted with them, and discovery to those seeing them for the first time. I work in a contemporary realist style, looking to bring to attention the beautiful design elements that already exist in the subjects that I paint.
