Scheduled for December 9th at BOK, Crafty Balboa has opened their application page to the public.

CONSIDERATIONS
Acceptance will be based on the quality and uniqueness of your craft, all work must be hand crafted. How your product fits into the concept of holiday gift giving, and the need to diversify product categories, jewelry and ceramics tend to be competitive categories. Prior acceptance does not guarantee re-acceptance.

Accepted vendors are required to provide 10-20 promotional items for use in our holiday goodie bags. Items include but are not limited to product samples, buttons, stickers, coupons, etc.

$100 Vendor fee paid via paypal.com includes an 8×2 table and two chairs.

Karen Hunter McLaughlin is a lifelong Philadelphia artist who has worked in traditional 2-D mediums as well as steel wire sculpture. Current work themes are a congruence of large format, multilayer prints creating 2-D inhabitable virtual-vistas, and a collection of smaller prints that focus on human connection, much like the ripple effect of a stone thrown in water.

I enjoy the manipulation of materials and how process itself contributes to the life and form of the image. Dramatic, gestural lines describe the play of light and wind across the water, while softer marks add life to the slow movement of rain laden clouds. Areas of sky, water, and land are knit together with brushstrokes to represent their seamless interaction under the common conditions of weather and time. In my acid etched tin pieces, areas of watery marks are left visible to suggest the underlying layers of the landscape. I  do not strive to recreate the particulars of  places that inspire me, but rather the timelessness of the elements of light, weather, and geometries that inform them. My work is not about how the landscape looks as much as about how the landscape makes me feel. I try to create an image that allows the viewer to engage with it in such a way as to invite similar introspection.
