ART 64: A Live Performance Painting Tournament

The City of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin and NEWaukee are looking for 64 artists from around the nation to compete in ART 64 for a chance to win $20,000. This one-of-a-kind, four-day bracket-style live painting tournament will take place in four rounds on June 3-6, 2020. Artists will be paired to go head-to-head and given two hours to create a work of art on a predetermined theme on a 2’x3’ canvas. Members of the public will be invited to watch the paintings come to life and vote for their favorite paintings on the ART 64 mobile application.
There is no cost to apply. The deadline to apply is midnight CST on Monday, March 9, 2020. Selected artists will be notified on April 1, 2020.
The goal of ART 64 is to create an open art competition in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin that is live, performative, engaging and accessible for both artists and the general public. ART 64 is meant to be a platform for artists and small businesses to build and connect to new audiences. We encourage you to share this event with artists in your network.

Ada Trillo is an interdisciplinary artist who primarily focuses on documentary photography.  Her work is included in the Philadelphia Museum of Art's permanent collection.  Having grown-up in Juarez, Mexico, she is deeply troubled by the social problems affecting women of the border towns. An example of Trillo’s work is a photo documentary exposé of low-cost sex workers in Mexico. The series includes a collection of photos taken in the brothels there, deglamorizing prostitution and showing the dehumanizing conditions of their work. Trillo’s photographs have been featured in several major press outlets -  and was recently selected Best Series in the Black and White International Awards.  She studied in Italy and Philadelphia, and her work has been shown in solo, and group exhibitions. Trillo lectures at conferences and universities, regarding women’s issues and human trafficking.  She is currently working on a series that tackles the issues surrounding immigration and the Honduran Caravan.
