Call for Artists – Glen Foerd’s Artist in Residence Program

Deadline April 24: Artists are invited to apply to become one of two Artists in Residence at Glen Foerd on the Delaware. Once selected the Artist in Residence may choose any six month period between June 2015- and June 2016 to complete their residency. This opportunity offers area artists unprecedented access to Glen Foerd’s historic collections, impressive grounds and the Delaware River. This is an amazing opportunity for artists across mediums and especially targeted to artists that have an interest in historic collections, architecture, environmental art, public engagement, Philadelphia history, historic homes and riverways.
Glen Foerd’s Artist in Residence Program is an opportunity for artists to pursue their artistic discipline, engage with the public while interacting with historic and natural elements of the estate. Outcomes are open-ended, but must include the creation of artwork (site specific or otherwise) to be exhibited in Fall 2016 and a public engagement component. Examples of public engagement include the following: educational outreach programs, online engagement, workshops, artist talks or performances. Artists will have access to and are encouraged to engage with Glen Foerd’s community partners, a process that will be facilitated by Glen Foerd’s staff.
Goals & Methods
Artists are encouraged to create works inspired from the historic and natural elements of the estate, and if possible, informed by one or more of Glen Foerd’s programmatic areas, which are as follows: Innovation & Inspiration, Horticulture & Habitat and Interpretation of the Estate.
Studio and storage space is available in several of Glen Foerd’s outbuildings, including the Carriage House, Garden House, and possibly the Boathouse. Artist will also have access to Glen Foerd’s collections and archives.

Information session at The Center for Emerging Visual Artists- April 9, 2015.
Application Deadline- April 24, 2015
artists must submit:
1. 10 images of their work. (Images must be labeled LastName_FirstName_1, LastName_FirstName_2 etc)
2. A corresponding artwork list that includes Title, Medium, Size and Description. If relevant, please describe how the image relates to the proposed project.
3. A resume.
4. An artist statement.
5. Answers to application questions.
Please note: selected finalists will be asked to provide two references.
Artists may share the requested application materials via:
• Drop Box in a folder titled LastName_First_Name.
