Call for Entries: Edgmont Environs & Details Photography Contest, Exhibit & Sale

If photography is your hobby or profession, we hope you will focus your camera on a beautiful scene or detail in Edgmont, PA and enter up to 5 photographs by the Sept 9, 2017 deadline. Entries are digital, and entrants will be notified which photographs are chosen for display. Edgmont Township offers perhaps the most photogenic 10 square miles one could hope to find in Pennsylvania. Observe the bucolic fields along Delchester Road and West Chester Pike. Enjoy the splashing waters and sun slanted forests in Ridley Creek State Park.  If structures or geology is your thing, there are historical buildings galore and the storied Castle Rocks of “Sandy Flash” lore. Consider photographing animals, details, history, landscape, structures, or whatever most engages you. Artists are invited to submit up to five original photographs illuminating aspects of Edgmont.

Exhibition Dates: October 12 – November 15, 2017
Digital Entry Submission Deadline: Sept. 9, 2017
Accepted Photographs List Released: Friday, Sept. 16, 2017
Artwork Delivery: October 4 to 8, 2017
People’s Choice Voting: October 12 to 14, 2017
Opening Reception: Saturday, October 14, 2017, 4:00 – 8:00 pm

ELIGIBILITY
Your photographs can be any image that you think is notable. Photographs that violate or infringe upon another person’s rights, including but not limited to copyright, are not eligible. Suggested categories are animals, details, history, landscape, structures. Photographs must be created in Edgmont Township since January 1, 2014. See Edgmont Photo Contest Map.

ENTRY FEE
There is a $30.00 entry fee for one to three photographs entered; $5:00 for each additional entry. ($40.00 maximum entry for 5 pieces) Payments by credit card, check, paypal or cash at the time of entry.

JUDGING
A minimum of 1 work per entrant will be selected for display. Entries will be judged by a review team comprised of members of the local residential, business and arts community. Entries will be judged for: originality, composition, emotion, impact, storytelling, and technical excellence. The list of accepted photographs will be emailed to participants on Sept. 16, 2017 and also will be posted at www.BeautyArtGallery.net/EdgmontPhotography 

JURY PANEL
Jurors for the competition are photographer Amie Potsic, executive director of Main Line Art Center; Edgmont Township supervisor Hank Winchester, III; Realtor and ETBPA board member David Joslin; and Beauty Gallery owner Paula Jackson.

AWARDS
First place $250: In addition, this image will be featured on the cover of the 2018 Edgmont Township Calendar mailed to residents and businesses
Second place $100: This image will be featured in a 2018 advertisement and poster promoting area businesses through the Edgmont Business & Professional Association (ETBPA)
Third place $50.
People’s Choice Award $75: Photograph garnering the most votes by exhibit visitors Oct. 12 – 14.
Honorable Mentions: $50 gift certificate to Beauty Art Gallery 
Other awards to be announced.
Awards will be presented at the Opening Reception on October 14, 2017.
