RFQ:

Artistic Project Directors Meg Saligman and Brian Sanders are looking for 2 artists to be commissioned to create 2 multi-media installations for an interior project on North Broad Street. The project is a multidiscipline immersive art experience incorporating the visual and performative arts. They are seeking an artist to start as soon as possible with installation complete by September 8.

• Compensation for each installation will be $1,250 in addition to a
supplies/materials budget.
• The installations will be designed in collaboration between the
commissioned artists and the Project Artistic Directors, Meg and Brian. There will be collaboration and input throughout each stage of development. This work will be curated into a larger exhibition, size is flexible yet comparable to a small room or large corner or wall. Exact placement and thematic content will be decided jointly between Artistic directors and the commissioned artist.
• Interested artists please submit 10 photos of your work in at least
two media, any media; and two references (listed with contact information) of previous commissions and/or installations; or art teachers and/or mentors who have experience working with you.
• Preference will be given to accomplished or emerging artists native
to, or resident for a substantial time period within the immediate local community of North Broad street and its surroundings.

There will be 5 artists selected for a zoom interview from this RFQ. Two final artists will awarded commissions. If you are brilliant, fun, reliable, talented and slightly weird – they want to meet you and experience your work!

My recent works are a break from the painterly images I have made in the past few years. In a search for something more deliberate I changed my painting method and style. It is an abstraction using crosshatching, a technique usually reserved for rendering form and depth I have created an abstract flat image more akin to topography verging on minimalism. The linear hatch marks are made on a matte gradiated background which focuses the viewer on the duality of surface and color. These works are a meditation on labor and time: of coming together and the borders that separate us. The marks are not only creating an aesthetic pattern they are literally the marking of art, and the work that has gone into the piece.
