Call for Sculpture: Artina 2018, Introspective ( Sandy Spring, Maryland)

Artina 2018, Introspective organized by the Washington Sculptors Group in collaboration with Sandy Spring Museum, Sandy Spring, Maryland.

Entries are due by April 9, 2018 (11:59pm)

INTROSPECTIVE aims to explore through sculpture our thoughts, feelings, psychological processes, or other human acts of self-reflection as they relate to the landscape. Existing and site-specific proposed sculptures may be submitted for consideration. Interactive outdoor works that create a dialogue between art and nature, site-specific, time-based, or ephemeral work to engage visitors, or create experiences with nature through the arts, are encouraged. Exhibition dates are June 21 to October 6, 2018. Cecilia Wichmann, assistant curator of contemporary art at the Baltimore Museum of Art is the juror.

Rachel Blythe Udell works with fibrous materials to create biomorphic sculptures and embroidered collages. She has had a solo show at Grounds For Sculpture and exhibited in a three-person show at the Perkins Center for the Arts, both in New Jersey. In Philadelphia, she has shown her work at venues such as the Painted Bride, International House, and the Crane Arts Center. Additionally, the Philadelphia Department of Parks and Recreation invited her to create a fiber art installation at Lemon Hill Mansion in Fairmount Park. Udell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in Art History, and has studied art and art therapy at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She lives and works in Collingswood, New Jersey
