CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: Juried Exhibition – What the World is Today

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION:
Artists are invited to interpret the theme “What the World is Today” in any way they choose. The exhibition will be on view in person in the CAC’s spacious Duke Gallery and as a digital gallery on the CAC website.
Open to all Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and Delaware artists eighteen years of age or older. Limit of two (2) entries per artist. Entries must have been completed in 2020 or 2021 and not previously exhibited at the Community Arts Center.
All two dimensional media accepted, including mixed media, wall sculpture and hand-pulled prints. Photography and digital art are acceptable. (No digital print reproductions of hand made works.) Two dimensional work may not exceed 48 inches in width and 6 feet in height. Three dimensional work is also accepted. Three dimensional work that requires a pedestal may not exceed 12 inches in width or depth and 24 inches in height. Free standing sculpture may not exceed 24 inches in width or depth and 48 inches in height. Hand delivery only. All entries must be dry and suitably prepared for hanging/display. The Community Arts Center reserves the right to reject any piece that does not meet these requirements. All work must be for sale. The Community Arts Center retains 40% commission on all works sold at this exhibition. The Community Arts Center will exercise every precaution in handling all entries, however, the Arts Center cannot assume responsibility for loss or damage.
JUROR: Marina Gutierrez
Marina Gutierrez is a mixed media artist living and working in New York City. Her combinations of ‘traditional’ and post industrial material form visual narratives, reflecting themes of personal and cultural history, political events and ecological commentary. She has received New York Foundation for the Arts and Joan Mitchel Fellowships and co-authored ART / VISION / VOICE Cultural Conversations in Community, published in 2005. For nearly four decades Gutierrez directed the Cooper Union Saturday Program, providing free studio courses to over 10 thousand students from New York City’s public high schools.

Artists will be notified of the status of submissions by Monday, January 24th.
Selected work should be delivered Monday, January 31, 10 am – 7 pm
