Composition in Concert

Composition in Concert

This Deadline Expired: Sunday, June 16, 2019

Open Call to all DVAA Members and the Public In partnership with Lightbox Film Center at International House Philadelphia Deadline to Submit: June 16th, midnight Juried by Bill Timmins Throughout the month of July Lightbox Film Center at International House Philadelphia will present Shimmering Synths: The Film Music of Tangerine Dream. For over five decades the German electronic music group has created dreamy, minimalist soundscapes and iconic film scores. To a greater extent, the film score embodies the harmonious relationship between music and visual art forms. The interaction between the two has become an integral part of art theory and history, especially since the 20th century. Even when visual art and music do not overtly influence one another, they often share abstract qualities or similar external influences, such as cultural innovation, political movements, or technological developments. Composition in Concert will accompany Lightbox’s programming as an exhibition showcasing visual artwork informed by or in conversation with music. Wall hanging artwork that visually expresses a sense of musicality (or dissonance) is welcome to apply. See the rules for entry below for more details.
