Creative Women of Lansdowne (Lansdowne, PA)

Creative Women of Lansdowne (Lansdowne, PA)

This Deadline Expired: Monday, February 5, 2018

The Lansdowne Arts Board is producing a gallery show this spring highlighting the incredible variety of women artists connected to our town. This show will be an opportunity to recognize and celebrate Lansdowne’s female creative community, during Women’s History Month.

The show will run throughout the month of March, at Lansdowne’s 20*20 House (20 Lansdowne Court, just behind the 20th Century Club).

You do not have to be a professional artist to be part of the show. We seek a wide definition of what it means to be creative: seamstresses, bakers, painters, sculptors, quilters, knitters, designers, illustrators, ceramicists, weavers, stained-glass artists, printmakers, calligraphers, jewelry makers, poets, novelists, musicians, graphic artists and more are welcome to apply.

Lansdowne is full of amazing, creative women, and we hope to show off some of this incredible diversity through the month-long project. In particular, young women, women of color, and women with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

The show will be juried by members of the Lansdowne Arts Board.

The “early bird” application deadline is January 12, and costs $5. Applications received after January 12, but before the final deadline of February 5 are $15.

Please help us connect with Lansdowne’s many female creatives about this applying to this show, and encourage your talented friends and neighbors to apply! We hope to showcase the work of as many amazing Lansdowne women as possible!

In my work I carefully navigate personal and intergenerational memory through visuospatial reconstruction. There is an active absence of the figure in my work, as if these scenes are the aftermath of an event, possibly still in motion.

Sandra's colorful and expressive abstract paintings and collages are about "place", and take inspiration from the landscape - While the artworks are not a representation of any specific location, they oftentimes are evocative of landscape. She invites the viewer to engage with her artworks through memory, imagination, and reverie. Working with oil paint, oil pigment sticks, watercolor and other media, her paintings and collages have been described by a curator as “visceral and expressive”.
