DVAA Call for Curator

With the generous funding from the Joseph Robert Foundation, Da Vinci Art Alliance is happy to announce one fully funded exhibition opportunity for a Philadelphia-based emerging and/or under-represented curator. The curator should explore social, political, or cultural content and have limited access to institutional opportunities to develop this craft.

The chosen curator would present a fully realized exhibition in DVAA’s main gallery space during November of 2019. They would spearhead the exhibition process, including theme creation, artist management, and ultimate layout and presentation. The selected emerging and/or under-represented curator would receive a $200 stipend and have access to DVAA office resources and space to develop this show. They would work alongside DVAA’s Exhibition Coordinator, Bryant Girsch, to oversee, advise, and install the exhibition.

EXHIBITION SCHEDULE

Selection Announcement: Late December, 2018
Exhibition Run Dates: October 6th, 2019 – October 27th, 2019
Opening Reception: October 6th, 6pm – 8pm

Lonnie Graham is a Pew Fellow and Professor at Pennsylvania State University. He is former director of Photography at Manchester Craftsmen’s Guild in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, an urban arts organization dedicated to arts and education for at risk youth. There, Graham developed innovative pilot projects merging Arts and Academics, which were ultimately cited by, then, First Lady Hillary Clinton as a National Model for Arts Education.
