The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program is a public private partnership dedicated to the belief that art ignites change. We create art with others to transform places, individuals, communities and institutions. Through this work, we establish new standards of excellence in the practice of public and contemporary art. Annually, Mural Arts engages more than 25,000 people. This includes more than 2,000 who enroll in ongoing art and muralism workshops offered by our Art Education, Restorative Justice, and Porch Light programs; more than 8,000 who co-create our stunning works of public art; and more than 15,000 who tour our multi-neighborhood collection. Annually, we produce between 80 and 100 temporary and permanent pieces, which together tell an incredible story of Philadelphia’s beauty and resilience.
The Tour Program of the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program is dedicated to showcasing and interpreting its mural collections to some 15,000 people annually. Delivered in a variety of formats and with routes organized by theme and location, mural tours facilitate understanding and engagement with the world’s largest collection of outdoor public art. In addition to the public offerings that serve tourists and local individuals, private and experiential tours serve corporations aiming to engage their staff in arts-based team building and Mural Arts supporters who wish to share our work with their networks. With every tour, a new audience witnesses the power of art to transform people, places, and institutions.
The Manager position requires the coordination of tour sales including booking information, creation of contract agreements for group sales, processing payments and necessary follow-up. This person will be expected to conduct research and outreach to attract new tour customers, and be skilled at handling phone inquiries and emails regarding the program and tour offerings. The manager is responsible for maintaining the on-line ticketing systems and tour calendar on website, preparing financial reports to track losses/profits and assist with the preparation of the annual budget. Other general office tasks include ordering supplies, tracking inventory, event prep/clean up and ability to volunteer for various organization-wide special events.
· The ideal candidate will possess the following characteristics:
· Excellent communication skills
· Demonstrated ability to sell a program or idea to the public.
· Well organized with a strong work ethic.
· Goal oriented with a desire to take initiative in order to be successful
· Ability to work in a fast paced collaborative work environment is essential.
· Knowledge of the Philadelphia tourism industry is a plus.
· Proficiency in Excel and financial software is also a plus.
· Minimum of 3 years work experience
· Bachelor degree in related field
Salary in the mid to high thirties with competitive compensation package.
