Gardenship is an artist-run collider space that fosters an ecosystem of creative discourse, exchange, discovery, equity, skill and support.
Gardenship Residents

Gardenship residents are artists, makers, creative professionals,and ultimately anyone that has the need to push their creative boundaries, operate inclusively, and produce broadly.

Studio residency include
24 hour keycard access, utilities and Wifi.
Opportunities for stipended exhibition both on and off Kearny Point campus
Community of technical experts in a range of fields
work spaces designed for large sculpture / installation work.

Residency types
Residents pay a monthly or annual fee for work space. Six month minimum, one year preferred. Artist insurance required.

Working wall studios – 12’ tall museum style walls / rack loft storage
550 sq ft | $850 monthly | $9,500 annually
1050 sq ft | $1,450 monthly | $16,500annually
Container studios – Private 20’ shipping container / heavy power / drive up access
1100 sq ft w/20ft container | $1,450 monthly | $16,500 annually
500sq ft w/20 ft container | $850 monthly | $9,500 annually

Shop residents (*coming soon)
Basic | $300 monthly | $3,200 annually
Plus | $350 monthly | $3,800 annually

Jennifer Baker is a visual artist working in varied media including: painting, monotype, sculpture, and installation. Her images of Northern Liberties document the changes in that Philadelphia neighborhood over a period of 30 years, from the fires and the wrecking balls of the 1980s and 90s to the runaway construction of the 2000s. Other images explore the central Pennsylvania town of Centralia where an underground fire has burned in a coal seam for over 50 years. These pieces have a roughness and immediacy in their execution that matches their subject matter. Her life size sculptures and installation pieces show another side of her interests, and most recently she has been working on a series of drawings documenting her life in the time of coronavirus. All of these pieces have in common an interest in narrative and a sense of place and memory.

Marjorie Grigonis is a painter who has spent 15 years as an art teacher, a professor at several colleges and universities. Currently she works in her studio in Philadelphia, where she belongs to the 3rd Street Gallery, a co-operative which she supports. In the 70's she was a founding member of an artists co-op in NYC. Her work is abstract, both in painting and drawing. They sometimes combine in mixed media with collage. These works may include fragments from the collection of memorabilia in her studio. Her work has been influenced by travel, Morocco, Mexico, and repeated trips to Japan and Europe
