My work is primarily in oils and focuses on urban street scenes and still life settings made up of vintage housewares and toys. I am interested in all things old as I believe they have the most interesting stories to tell. Buildings and objects from the past both bring back memories for those who have previously interacted with them, and discovery to those seeing them for the first time. I work in a contemporary realist style, looking to bring to attention the beautiful design elements that already exist in the subjects that I paint.

I endeavor to find the connection between math and deliberation with nature and randomness. I employ an experimental approach inspired by urban and natural textures, using geometry, patterns, and contrived shapes to create a lyrical, non-narrative statement. My paintings are colorful, contemporary and abstract, often based on musical frequencies, graffiti, architecture and patterns.

Acrylic and watercolor grids and overlapping lines, gestured brush strokes and bold color are the first impressions when seeing the new work by Patricia Ingersoll. Ingersoll continues her studies of the merging of organic and geometric elements in nature and how they compare and contrast with the human condition. Her explorations of subjects found in nature, such as water, dense woods, vines, plants introduces challenges in the process of deconstructing the pictorial plane, or breaking it apart, in order to reconstruct it as individual, but equal parts. Through this process of mapping and diagramming with line, she is exploring and recording where these elements intersect pictorially.
