Mural Arts Philadelphia is the largest public art initiative of its kind, dedicated to the belief that art ignites change. For over 30 years, Mural Arts has united artists and communities through a collaborative and equitable process, creating nearly 4,000 artworks that have transformed public spaces and individual lives. Mural Arts aims to empower people, stimulate dialogue, and build bridges of understanding with projects that attract artists from Philadelphia and around the world, and programs that focus on youth education, restorative justice, mental health and wellness, and public art and its preservation. Popular mural tours offer a firsthand glimpse into the inspiring stories behind Mural Arts’ iconic and unparalleled collection, which has earned Philadelphia worldwide recognition as the “City of Murals.”

Mural Arts seeks a Research Intern for its Development Department. They will support the department’s efforts to grow its individual giving program by learning more about its donor base and capturing relevant information in Raiser’s Edge. The intern will conduct research on current and prospective donors and trends in philanthropy. This is a great opportunity for an individual interested in research and nonprofit fundraising.

This position is part-time (20-25 hours per week) and reports to the Chief Strategy Officer. A stipend is available for a six-month to one-year period.

Responsibilities include:

  • Augment donor profiles by conducting research through available research tools

  • Confirm and sync ResearchPoint data into Raiser’s Edge, our donor database

  • Use Prospect function of Raiser’s Edge to capture philanthropic interests/classification

  • Enter Reports of Contact into Raiser’s Edge according to departmental procedure, using any prospects as a lead to conduct further research

  • Prepare leadership for networking at events by pulling data on donors and prospects who will be present

  • Stay abreast of articles and reports providing insights into trends in philanthropy, and report out to department

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and adept organizational skills

  • Strong analytical abilities and commitment to problem-solving

  • High degree of confidentiality concerning information relating to donor records

  • Experience and competency using research tools

  • Familiarity with donor management software; knowledge of Raiser’s Edge preferred

  • Competency using Microsoft Office suite

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional or educational experience
