The land Tofte Lake Center sits on near Ely, Minnesota and the programs and opportunities they offer belong – and should be accessible to – artists of all genders, ages, abilities and racial, cultural, and economic backgrounds. TLC is a home where all artists, arts supporters and audiences can touch the land, honor the ancestors, and through art become cultural stewards for the generations to come. They create community through personal and professional exploration of our ever-changing cultural dimensions: spiritual, political, economic, health and well-being, academic and, of course – art.
NATIONAL EMERGING ARTISTS PROGRAM – Residency
TLC is sponsoring its first National Emerging Artists Program which enables early-career individual artists to focus on their current work. This program subsidizes 2 one-week residencies for 5 emerging artists and/or 2 person creative teams from the United States. There is a stipend of $700 and a travel budget of $350 per artist.
Eligibility for this residency is guided by the following definition. “Emerging artists” are being defined as those who have not attained name recognition in their profession/field by having a body of critically recognized work (i.e. having at least 3 major productions, showings, exhibits, books) at or with leading institutions/publishers.
