NYC Percent for Art Program Slide Registry

Ongoing Opportunity

Ongoing : The City of New York Department of Cultural Affairs Percent for Art Program provides an important venue for all New Yorkers and visitors to appreciate artwork outside the traditional museum or gallery setting. Percent for Art projects are site-specific and engage a variety of media: painting, mosaic, glass, textiles, sculpture, and works that are integrated into infrastructure, or architecture. The Percent for Art artist slide registry is an important component of the Program that allows artists to participate by maintaining a record of their work. The registry is consulted by the architects, panelists, and City agencies for each project. The Percent for Art slide registry is open to any professional visual artist; there is no residency requirement for a Percent for Art Commission. Artists who are interested in submitting their work for the registry may print out this application. first posted: 12-02-09

Influenced by folklore, superstition, divination, & forgotten territories reclaimed by nature, I create immersive installations out of hand-cut Tyvek—a nonwoven material most familiar as an insulating wrap used in the construction industry. These environments might be fairy-tale forests or the sites of biological disasters. Perhaps both.
