ONLINE EXHIBIT: Beauty In The Mundane

This Deadline Expired: Sunday, January 24, 2021

Art Mums United, an inclusive platform that celebrates womxn creatives, is proud to announce our very first open call in 2021!!!

“Beauty In The Mundane” is an online exhibit that celebrates ALL WOMXN CREATIVES and the world seen through their eyes. Our lives are full of hustle, and we often forget to see the little things that matter. There is so much beauty around us that can make us joyful, create smiles on our faces and make us wonder how we could have walked by without noticing it before. In this exhibit, we want to highlight the most ordinary moments that make us happy.

Guest Curator
Sari Schryack is a visual artist based in Austin, Texas. She graduated from Drury University in Missouri in 2014 with a BA in Fine Arts. My interest in glass and found objects has allowed me to re-immerse myself in the world of toys, this time with a more mature twist. As I refer to my most sacred toys, I try to evoke universal images. There is a compelling irony as I create symbolic toys, which ask to be touched and manipulated, from glass, an extremely fragile material. I manipulate glass, recycle and integrate it with well-worn artifacts from the past, which are often perceived as useless in today's culture. This gives discarded items renewed purpose. As we interact tentatively with these objects they take us back to our most early memories while connecting us to other societies and eras.
