Open Call For Art – Da Vinci Art Alliance Presents Open Lens IV (Philadelphia, PA)

This Deadline Expired: Friday, January 19, 2018

Da Vinci Art Alliance is proud to hold its fourth annual photography exhibition, Open Lens IV. In celebrating the vast scope of contemporary photography, Open Lens IV is open to all forms of photography, capturing any subject, of any theme, using any photographic discipline.

Open Lens IV will be juried by Philadelphia photographer, Ronald Corbin. Corbin’s work draws on a fascination and focus on the less fortunate individuals that looked to the city’s streets, bridges and abandoned structures as their home. In Philadelphia the various neighborhoods of the city that include Kensington, a blue collar section that transformed into a drug haven, greatly influence his work. The majority of Ron’s body of work is concentrated here and continues to be the subject of his exploration of the lives of disenfranchised individuals.

Andrew Chalfen's colorful abstract-geometric paintings, drawings, and mixed-media pieces are dense, vibrant worlds of precisely rendered patterning, suggestive of aerial views, cartography, architectural renderings, psychedelia musical notation, urban-like densities, circuitry and digital life. His process is a mixture of focused intentionality and generative randomization strategies.

Once you find something that truly moves you, if can enhance your personal life, encourage you to grow, and leave you wanting more. That's what glass does for me. It's my first love. It's given me life and joy.

Phyllis Anderson has been painting for nearly three decades, exploring process and outcome, meaning and metaphor. She approaches her work like a lab experiment, a set of steps to see what will happen. Her painting process usually begins with a thick underpainting using a carefully chosen color (a color of influence!) which is left intentionally visible at the edges.
