Open Call for Exhibition at AUTOMAT Collective

AUTOMAT presents the 2019 Open Call for submissions. Through this call our members will select 3-6 artists to exhibit their works at AUTOMAT Gallery this July & August. We wish to develop ongoing relationships with artists through this call, so if you would like to show with us, we encourage you to apply.

AUTOMAT is committed to expanding the diversity of our roster; all are welcome to apply.

Submission Requirements:

Step 1: Create a single pdf document including:
Images of 3-5 works (up to two images per work)
If submitting video work or performance, please provide links to a Vimeo or YouTube page.
Description of the works: title, medium, size, date, price and installation recommendations (if necessary)
A short bio (300 words or less about you and your work)

Step 2: Pay the entry fee of $20 by clicking the “Donate” link on AUTOMAT’s Support page: http://www.automatcollective.com/donate (All proceeds from our Open Call go to furthering the AUTOMAT program.)

Step 3: Title the pdf Last Name_First Name (ex. Collective_AUTOMAT), then email the pdf document and PayPal receipt # to submissions@automatcollective.com with “Open Call (artistname)” in the subject line.

Relationships
(I always say) are never easy:
especially those between
color, shape, texture, space . . .
and tension.
The relationship of the part to the part,
the part to the whole and the relationship
of the piece to the viewer . . . no matter
what materials I use is all important.
I use titles to emotionalize these abstract
pieces to help communicate a connection
between the individual and
the universal whole.

In the metal pieces I use recycled aluminum
printing press plates which I sand,
cut and glue onto wood panels, they are
about energy and light, patterns and
motion, all influenced by the microcosm
of life forms, biology, and a
hint of satire.
