Opening for Gallery Representation

Opening for Gallery Representation

This Deadline Expired: Thursday, February 28, 2019

There is an opening for representation of a new artist in our gallery. We are currently reviewing artwork for inclusion in our limited “Artist Membership Gallery”. This type of art gallery is similar to a cooperative, but with less responsibilities and more benefits to the artist.

We offer 2 levels of Membership:

“Full Member” – A $125 per month member fee and a very low 15% commission on art sold, will apply. Also, artists gallery-sit only one day per month. Artist’s work is shown year round on Member area walls & artist is offered a solo show every 1 1/2 to 2 years.

“Non-Sitting Full Member” – A $175 per month member fee and is the same as a “Full Membership” but no gallery sitting is required.

Twenty-Two has been cultivating and celebrating the arts and artists in our community since it’s establishment in 2001. As a Member Artist you would have a year-round space to display your artworks, as well as many networking opportunities. We are seeking artists local to our general Philadelphia metro area in PA, NJ, and DE.

Through abstract geometric paintings, Philadelphia artist Melinda Steffy translates music into color patterns, exploring ideas of translation, information and data, and how music weaves throughout human experience. Melinda Steffy’s RUINATION DAY series (acrylic on wood panel) deconstructs folk and blues songs that reference the date April 14, which is when Lincoln was shot, the Titanic hit the iceberg, and the Black Sunday dust storm devastated the Midwest. Melinda Steffy’s BACH PROJECT series (watercolor on paper) converts classical music by J.S. Bach and Bela Bartok into grids and pie charts. Rather than hear one note after the other through time, the paintings show all of the notes and rhythms simultaneously on one visual plane.
