Philadelphia Marathon Weekend 30th Anniversary: Call for Design Qualifications

deadline: Friday, August 19, 2022

The Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy has partnered with the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend to hold a design competition for Philadelphia artists to create unique shirt designs for the 30th anniversary of the Philadelphia Marathon Weekend happening in November 2023. The winning design will be incorporated in the shirts and other promotional goods for the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Philadelphia Marathon, Dietz & Watson Philadelphia Half Marathon, and Rothman Orthopaedics 8K races during the 2023 Philadelphia Marathon Weekend. The design competition winner will receive a $3,000 prize.

To respond to this preliminary call for design qualifications, Philadelphia-based artists may submit no more than five (5) work samples showcasing relevant design work. Please do not create custom Philadelphia Marathon Weekend shirt designs to submit for this preliminary qualification. Following the review of the submitted design qualifications, four (4) semi-finalists will be selected and invited to create one (1) unique Philadelphia Marathon Weekend 30th Anniversary shirt design for the competition.

Interested artists are invited to view winning designs from the 2021 Philadelphia Marathon Weekend shirt design competition here as well as shirt design samples from years prior here.

The deadline to submit design qualifications is Friday, August 19 by 5:00 p.m. The semi-finalists will be announced on Monday, August 29. Upon notification, semi-finalists will be provided instruction and specifications on submitting final designs for the competition.
