Philly Stewards Artist Census

Philly Stewards Artist Census

This Deadline Expired: Thursday, January 31, 2019

The Philly Artist Census is the first in a series of surveys that Philly Stewards will be deploying in 2018 and 2019, in an attempt to get an accurate picture of the resources, challenges and livelihoods of practicing visual artists in Philadelphia. Future surveys will seek to do the same for other art cohorts such as curators and collectors.Their motivation to assemble this information is to clarify myths from truths about the greater Philly artist community. They understand that while PS members might occupy several different artist communities in Philadelphia, they fully acknowledge that their membership does not represent the Philadelphia artist community as a whole. Much of PS’s effort during the 3 months this survey is live will be to spread notice of their survey far-and-wide in Philadelphia, hoping to get as many responses as possible.

If you or an artist you know does not have internet access readily available, please e-mail them at info@phillystewards.art or call 215.510.7340 with the artist’s name and address and they will mail out a paper version of the survey with a self-addressed stamped envelope to return the survey to us.

What elevates his work from mere craftsmanship is his visionary outlook. Rearranging objects and incorporating an iconography of myths, fairy tales, and personal idiosyncrasies, Warren Muller exudes an envious agility. Motion, change and improvisation are implied like a glimpse of chaos captured and frozen for a split-second.
