Studio Supervisor – 3D Technician at Arcadia University

The 3D Print Lab Studio Technician will work as part of the Art and Design studio staff to manage the making facilities Arcadia’s University’s Digital Fabrication Lab. This position will help oversee all shop activities within the digital fabrication studio to ensure safe operations of equipment and tools, guiding students in the digital fabrication related skills and techniques. The studio technician will foster a positive learning environment through patience, excellent communication skills and expertise in making techniques related to digital fabrication.

The position is part-time, 9-months per year (September – May) and works approximately 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions

Supervise student staff
Manage student charge backs
Manage all printing
Maintenance repair and operation of shop equipment such as the CNC, laser cutters and 3D printers
Collaborate with faculty and students to achieve pedagogy needs
Oversee safety of students and all users within the studios
Assist in management of material inventory and supplies

Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated knowledge of all equipment and software
Contribute to a positive work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
Excellent communication skills, whether dealing with individuals or groups, and an ability to work well with different constituents.
Demonstrated leadership ability is required, including a demonstrated ability to work effectively and collegiately with University administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
Ability to work independently, and to manage project timelines
Ability to learn and apply University policies and procedures to ensure operational compliance and reliable judgement.
Ability to ensure compliance with prescribed operating procedures/policies, safety standards, and legal and liability issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

BFA or combination of education and experience working in 3D Digital Fabrication Lab.
