Submission for Draper Experiment 2019
This Deadline Expired: Friday, June 1, 2018
The Delaware Contemporary introduces the Draper Experiment, a two month-long exhibition cycle featuring local, regional, and national artists. The Draper Experiment is not only for experimental artwork or performance, but is, in itself, an experiment, embodying The Delaware Contemporary’s mission of innovation and opportunities for contemporary artists. Each exhibition unit will begin with an opening reception during our first Friday Art Loop and be on display for two months. Individual artists, artist groups, and artist collectives are invited to submit proposals for their Draper Experiment.
This proposal should include a statement about your project including what the theme is, how you plan to install it, if it will change throughout the weeks on display, and any other important additional details. Due to the quick turnover of the exhibition cycle, all art should be ready-to-install by the artist or arranged for by the artist, and quickly de-installed at the end of the exhibition. We hope that you will use this unique opportunity to exercise ideas, push your current practice, or try something completely new.
Our goal for the Draper Experiment is to break from traditional curatorial and exhibition practice. Artists, artist groups, and artist collectives should form a solid proposal that discusses a contemporary issue, addresses/critiques modern society, or pushes a conversation. Any artist over the age of 18 can apply to the Draper Experiment and any medium will be considered. We will only review conceptual or in-progress proposals of NEW WORK, if you are seeking a solo exhibition of artwork not relevant to the Draper Experiment, your proposal will not be considered.
