Teen Lounge Request for Proposals – Winter 2017

Teen Lounge Request for Proposals – Winter 2017

This Deadline Expired: Thursday, December 1, 2016

Entry Deadline: December 1, 2016

Fleisher’s Teen Lounge provides young people with opportunities to work with experienced Teaching Artists from around the region. Participating teens evaluate proposals submitted by Teaching Artists through the RFP (Request for Proposals) process. Teen Lounge at Fleisher Art Memorial is accepting project proposals from teaching artists for paid residencies.
A PDF version of the RFP can be requested by emailing teenlounge@fleisher.org.

The deadline is November 30th, 2016 for projects in January – March 2017. We will be selecting six visiting artists, who are compensated up to $600 for 4 sessions with a supply budget of $150. Artists will be asked to attend a proposal review fair scheduled for December 7th, 2016 to meet Teen Lounge students, who will then vote to select the artists they want to work with in the winter. The workshops should offer young people, between the ages 13 and 18, exciting opportunity to be introduced to a medium or explore a theme of relevance to this age group and be completed in 6-8 hours (3-4 sessions) maximum. Experimental workshop proposals are welcome. The sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 6:00 pm. Up to 20 students attend our Teen Lounge daily, from a variety of levels in art making experiences.

To submit your proposal, visit the submissions portal here.

Susan Shipley is an abstract painter. She paints spontaneously. While enjoying the work of many abstract artists, she finds that the consistency and sameness, while calming, offers little surprise. She prefers to work spontaneous using dramatic colors in a dynamic fashion. The end results fall in the category of abstract expressionism. Rather than providing calm, she prefers to provoke an immediate emotional response. A short while ago, she fused and slumped glass creating 3 dimensional work; however, of late she just paints. She received a Ph.D. later in life and practices psychology in the schools with children. Susan is a Baby Boomer and a happy grandma.
