The Handwork Studio has built a business out of creating the next generation of needle artists. We teach children ranging in age from 5-16 years the skills of knitting, weaving, felting, hand and machine sewing, fashion design and much more! Believe it or not, we are a company with a national presence looking to give as many kids as we possibly can access to learn what feel are incredibly important skills.

At the core of what we do, our focus is to provide an environment of exploration, encouragement and love to our kids, staff and community. In order to do this we need a Talented Teacher and Customer Service Champion whom has a diverse set of skills to help us achieve our lofty goals. We are a small business, you will not mind rolling up your sleeves to get the job done. We ask a lot but our hope is that you will find the work rewarding.

Where do I work??

This position is mainly located at our Narberth Studio.
What are my hours??

Days and hours will vary seasonally due to the cycle of our summer and school year business:
Mid-Sept.-Mid-May, Wednesday-Saturday, 1PM – 7 PM Sunday 10:00AM-5:30PM
Mid-May- Mid-Sept., Monday-Friday, 8AM-4PM.
This is a full-time position that will work about 30 each week within the open hours of the studio.

Customer Service

Liaison between the customer and The Handwork Studio. Customers are defined as but not limited to our parents, campers, partners, vendors, and team members.
Attract potential customers but answering program and service questions with accurate, valid and complete information.
Will work towards building sustainable relationships of trust through open and interactive communication
Handles complaints and resolves product or service problems by selecting and explaining the best solution to the problem and follow up to ensure resolution
Implement customer engagement plan
Go the extra mile to WOW customers – Learn our families names, know their favorite color (maybe not favorite color, but we want all of our customers to feel like they are a part of our family).

Promote classes, workshops and camps through but not limited to: flyers, coupons and goody bags
Research, present, and book and execute community events for marketing purposes

Assist in maintaining registration system and email database
Assist in organizing trainings and orientation(s)
Direct all financial information that comes through the studio to the proper channels
Assist in maintaining studio communication and organization for: Birthday Parties, classes, camps, workshops, troop visits, events, private lessons, etc.

Ensure daily lesson plans are carried out to completion
Teach by following The Handwork Studio Curriculum
Ensure all staff are adhering to The Handwork Studio mission and values
Maintain confidentiality of registration roster, client lists and contact information during camp and return all lists and information at end of the camp session.
Participate in all required trainings
Know the whereabouts of children at all times
Ensure safety of children and staff at all times
Classroom management and teaching skills
Bountiful energy to sit, stand, sing, and stitch throughout the day
A passion for crafting
Crafting skill level: Competent crafter in any of the following needle arts but not limited to hand and machine sewing, knitting, crocheting, weaving, etc.
Strong organizational skills
Nurturing and compassionate with a sense of humor

1-2 years of customer service and/or sales experience
Completed Bachelor’s degree in relatable field preferred, or equivalent experience.
Clear all required background checks
Reliable transportation
Must be computer literate and comfortable using a multitude of digitally based platforms
Understanding of basic financial duties
Must possess excellent written, oral, and organizational skills
Demonstrate the social skills necessary to relate to a variety of people, remaining positive even under stressful and demanding situations
Strong Interpersonal communication skills for working with campers, parents, potential customers, staff, external partners and vendors.
Ability to work independently and reach goals
