Artist's Biography

Schneider’s art is characterized by graphic simplicity and conceptual undertones.

A native of Madrid, Spain, Schneider studied at The Arts Student League in New York and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia, where she now resides. Fascinated by technology, she started became part of NextFab, a makers space in Philadelphia, where she learned how to use and manipulate lasers, LED lighting and other technologies she started using in her art practice. Previously, she completed a Law Degree and an MBA, disciplines that now inform some of her conceptual work.

Drawing and experimentation have always been central to her artistic practice. From the early bull paintings and the newspaper clippings to the LED drawings, Schneider is always searching and moving forward with her work. Her discovery of laser printing opened for her a complete new world in which she marries art and technology using basic elements of drawing and simple lighting techniques.

Her work hangs in corporate and private collections in Europe and the United States. She has shown at the Pennsylvania State Museum, Philadelphia City Hall and Philadelphia downtown galleries. She was selected to be part of Dialogo 365, one of the largest exhibits of Latino artists in the East Coast, in 2011 and in 2012 and the Wawa Corporation Annual Exhibit in 2013. She also has exhibited at Art Prize in Grand Rapids, MI. Some of her recent group shows include Simulate/Permeate at Rowan University. Her current exhibit at Samara Gallery in Houston, TX include several of her Invisible Cities Series.

Artist's Statement

I explore the invisibility of the things we refuse to see. I bring to the forefront the ghosts of the past that shape the present. In the Invisible Cities series, I display multiple layers of the architectural progress of cities representing both the upswings of urban development and the preceding ghosts of abandoned and reclaimed buildings and through laser-etched lines on plexiglass illuminated by LED lights. Shining light on these invisible places, the ghosts become alive and the perception shifts.
