It’s that time of the year again when:
Every plane, train, and automobile conspires to ruin your travel plans.
That uncle with the hot takes about current events starts monologuing at the kiddie table.
Your favorite niece makes the homemade gingerbread everyone loves.
You decide to spend the day alone just because.
That’s right. It’s time to go home for the holidays.
Celebrate the holiday season in Philly with First Person Arts and share your cozy stories about being Home for the Holidays. Tell us about those awkward family dinners, that time you tried to plug the vacuum into the Christmas tree lights, or the best present you ever got!
Join First Person Arts for Philly’s original (and best!) storytelling competition with our host Lamarr Todd. Emily Epstein White, local celebrity guest judges, and an audience judge will score the stories and give our storytellers helpful hints on how to improve their tales. The winner takes home $100 and bragging rights until next month.
Come to World Cafe Live on 12/10 for a fun-filled night with stories told by you–our audience–live on stage. The show starts at 7pm. Tickets are $15.
Already got an idea brewing and want a guaranteed spot on stage? Pitch us your story at stories@firstpersonarts.org. Please limit your pitch to no more than 100 words.
We choose 4 lucky featured storytellers about two weeks before the show. Each storyteller gets a complimentary 30-minute story coaching session with our expert storytelling coaches. The remaining 3 slots are up to fate on the night of the StorySlam.
Never been to a First Person Arts StorySlam storytelling competition before? No problem. First Person Arts StorySlams are like open mic nights for people who love stories. We provide a theme, and you provide a 100% true, personal story. You’ve got 5 minutes on stage to entertain the “most engaged audience in Philly.” No notes or props allowed.
