East Market and InLiquid are both dedicated to a meaningful partnership and a shared mission to support local artists in the region and to deliver rich visual content to help foster a vibrant creative community.
East Market is a dynamic mixed-used project blending urban, artisanal shopping and dining experiences with contemporary work and living spaces. InLiquid, in partnership with East Market, will curate the lobby and 6th floor of the 1100 Ludlow office building featuring a rotating exhibition of original artwork made by local artists of Philadelphia. 1000 Ludlow has emerged as a design-hub in Philadelphia and hosts the offices of the National Real Estate Advisors, The Design Center, and the offices of renowned architectural firm Bohlin Cywinski Jackson. Exhibitions in this exciting space will be transformed bi-annually.
East Market is open to the public by appointment. Please email Programming Director Clare Finin clare@inliquid.org to make an appointment.
Paula Glazer @ The White Box Space
InLiquid Art collaborates with art advisor Paula Glazer for a one-time pop-exhibition in the White Box Space. This exhibition will feature the artwork of Matt Coombs, Jennifer Johnson, Michael Kalmbach, and Jeff Quinn.
Matt Coombs is an artist who works primarily with painting and collage, creating abstract works that are influenced by Dadaism, popular media, and the history of painting. Through his practice, he seeks to explore the limits of visual clarity, and the concept of echolalia—the involuntary repetition of vocalizations made by another person. He has a BFA from the Ringling College of Art and Design, an MFA from Tyler School of Art, and has participated in the New York Studio Residency Program in 2012.
Jennifer Johnson is a Philadelphia-based sculptor who works with ceramics and fibers, but also electronics, video, and performance, to create installations. Her preoccupation is how specific places become meaningful. She received her MFA in Ceramics from Tyler School of Art and BA in Philosophy from Swarthmore College.
Michael Kalmbach received his MFA at the University of Delaware in 2008. Shortly after graduation he accepted a position at the Delaware College of Art & Design, and founded the New Wilmington Art Association, an organization that organized exhibitions of contemporary art in Wilmington’s vacant retail spaces from August 2008 to April 2013. This work led to Michael’s involvement with the Chris White Community Development Corporation, which developed the 23-unit artist live/work space, Shipley Lofts.
Jeff Quinn is an artist who lives and works in New York City. He graduated from the Rhode Island School of Design with a BFA in Painting and has appeared in numerous solo and group exhibitions. He has been commissioned for many private and public environments, including painting the installation for American artist Robert Gober’s retrospective at MOMA.
The White Box Space hours are:
Wednesday – Friday 4-6PM Saturday 1-6 PM
The gallery is located across from Kevin Broad and Rebecca Schultz’s exhibition at East Market, across the pedestrian walk, and is to the left of The Ludlow’s entrance.
