Exhibits & Events

Please RSVP to join InLiquid and artist Rebecca Schultz on September 16th for a soil pigment and painting workshop at Penn Treaty Park! There will be two sessions of this workshop; please only choose one that works best for your schedule.

Prehistoric humans made their paint from rocks and soil - and we can still make art with these rich colors today! In this workshop, participants will explore the process of creating watercolor pigments using local soil samples. You'll have the opportunity to experiment with these materials by creating your own painting. The soil used in this workshop will be collected from Penn Treaty Park, situated in Fishtown along the Delaware River, as well as other neighborhoods within the Philadelphia region.

The pigments produced during the event will be used by artist Rebecca Schultz in her newest work, which will be showcased in Material Time, an exhibition at Park Towne Place in October 2023. By attending this workshop, not only will you learn a fascinating historical technique, but you will also have the chance to contribute to this collaborative artwork.

This event is held outdoors. Please keep the weather in mind when dressing and make sure to bring adequate hydration. There is no running water or bathrooms on site. Rain date September 17th.
