The InLiquid Gallery is the physical expression of InLiquid’s mission as a hub for visual art in Philadelphia. As a non-profit providing opportunities and a platform for enhanced exposure for local artists, The Gallery is the first permanent space that offers rotating curation of our artist members’ work. The Gallery aims to provide the local and visiting public with a social destination where artwork can be seen, enjoyed, experienced, and purchased.
Satirical Candidacy
Satirical Candidacy is on view at The InLiquid Gallery from October 7th, 2020 to November 14th, 2020, and features the work of Philadelphia based artists Deanna McLaughlin and Florence Weisz.
Satirical Candidacy is a two-person exhibition of McLaughlin’s and Weisz’s politically-based works as a nod to the upcoming November elections. Through their use of rye humor and uncanny wit, McLaughlin and Weisz investigate candidates, policies, and our current state of world affairs. Deanna McLaughlin has produced a new body of work for this exhibition with a special focus on our current president and the puzzling question of “what is on his mind.” Florence Weisz’s included works consist of a retrospective of her 40 year series Presidential Manipulations, where Weisz takes the likeness of a presidential candidate or sitting president, and alters it, offering the viewer a chance to recontextualize the men (and women) that we so often feel like we already know.
