Folding Space is a group exhibition hosted by Park Towne Place and curated by InLiquid. It brings together six artists working in abstraction. Using high-key colors and geometric patterning, these artists show the communicative power of visual language. Speaking to the viewer’s psyche, each piece evokes different emotions and memories. Folding Space shows how the formal elements of art, such as line, shape, and color, can express universal human experiences.

Melinda Steffy is a visual artist who is interested in the transformative power of language. She has created a system to translate music into a visual pattern, expressed in her series Songs. Lynn Dunham is an interdisciplinary artist trained in graphic design. Her digital abstractions explore the relationship between light and space, capturing three dimensional spatiality in two dimensions. Philip C. Hart creates hanging mobiles made of wire, sheet metal, and fishing line. Inspired by human pattern recognition, his work has a delicate balance that taps into the viewer's subconscious.

Diane Marimow is a ceramicist whose series of totems, sculptures, and wall reliefs draw from emotional and physical memory. Her organic forms invite viewers to bring their own interpretation to each piece. Kurt Herrmann is a painter from Pennsylvania who works both figuratively and abstractly. His Color Bombs series are bright abstractions inspired by real and imagined natural landscapes. Scott Troxel is a mixed-media artist who creates sculptures that combine organic and inorganic materials, such as wood and acrylic paint. His materials represent the passage of time and the human aging process. Together, these artists create an immersive experience for the viewer, inviting them into a world defined by light, color, and shape.

Folding Space is on view at Park Towne Place from February 21st to May 20th. The opening reception is February 20th, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, featuring catered refreshments and remarks from the artists. RSVP here.
