For the second year in a row, InLiquid has successfully curated our incredible one of a kind sculpture garden titled Sculpture In The Glen II. This event is an immersive outdoor experience, which includes over two dozen new works by local sculptors and is set in the lush landscape of the glen, a 4-acre parcel along Mill Creek in Gladwyne. This event began the first weekend of October (On the 3rd and 4th), and as a celebration there was a private, socially distanced, vernissage. It was a beautiful autumn day, perfect for the chicest of glamping attire.
Some pieces stood proud and tall, others almost hidden in the foliage, waiting to be discovered. The art sparked conversations between strangers, and plenty of people walked away from the event with newfound friendships. The atmosphere itself was very light and fun, the entire glen pulsing with soft excitement. Everyone milled around happily, maps in hand, as they viewed the incredible artwork.
As you interact with both the art and surroundings, it was easy to forget you are just a short drive away from the bustling city. Besides the art, the most popular attendees were all the four-legged friends who chased one another and splashed in the creek to keep cool.
As people relaxed amidst the trees and art, they enjoyed complimentary beverages provided In-kind by brands such as Moët Chandon, Commonwealth Ciders, and Philadelphia Brewing Company.
Sculptures range from traditional themes like Joshua Koffman’s Torso Femina–showing the beauty found in the human form–to contemporary works with powerful messaging like Vicki Vinton’s Stand with Presence–a bright red, powder-coated, akimbo-stance female symbol celebrating overall strength and unapologetic fervor–there is something for everyone enjoy as they breath in the fresh air.
The sculpture garden features artworks in both scales of intricate transition to large installations by artists Alex Bard, Kenn Brown, Charles Burch, Brent Crothers, Brian David Dennis, Charles Emlen, Lisa Fedon, Joshua Koffman, Leslie Matthews, Caitlin McCormack, Katia McGuirk, Michael Morgan, Amy Orr, John Parker, Christopher Poehlmann, Rikki Morley Saunders, Peter Slavin, Stan Smokler, Jonathan Stemler, Vicki Vinton, Hannah Vogel, and Roger Wing.
The goal of this event is to invite those who visit it to step back from their computers and get back to nature where they can interact with more than 25 sculptures intended to inspire and awe. This event is now on view to the public through the entire month of October. On Saturdays and Sundays from 1 pm-5 pm, all are welcome to experience and celebrate the art.
