Disentangled Yesterday
The artists of Disentangled Yesterday explore various forms of mark-making. Adam Erlbaum‘s and Zoë Lukas‘ abstract paintings experiment with layering, adding, and subtracting their patterns and shapes until a cohesive work is created. Cara Roberts uses her development as a woman of color to inform her patterned and gridded artwork that depict an array of colors and the silhouettes of women. Stuart Lehrman‘s photos may seem less abstract by examining the marks on the pavement, but his up-close-and-personal views distort these supposedly familiar markings to create a new interpretation.
These four artists’ formidable talents regarding their use of color and perspective have culminated in a show as vibrant as it is captivating.
