InLiquid members Kevin Broad and Peter Cunicelli are featured at the Graham Building. “Study of nature has brought an inherent organic quality to my work. My aesthetic focuses on capturing sensations of light and color along with the emotions these can inspire. My style gains strength from my exploration and direct handling of various mediums – paint that I have an intimacy with because I make it myself. Painting is this process of discovery without fear or repression with the potential of bringing forth new forms of expression.” – Kevin Broad“Contrast is a constant element in life and nature. We see a community garden that grows wild in the heart of a bustling, structured city. We see a rose sit on a stem of thorns. Also, life and nature provide constant inspiration for movement and sensuality. These elements, contrast, movement and sensuality, provide the basis for my ceramic work. As in nature, there is often a clear delineation between light and dark. One always follows the other. I use curvaceous, yet exact and crisp, lines to make the same distinction in my work. As each piece is viewed, each pose should present a different image to the viewer while part of the piece is shadowed. These lines also elicit a movement that suggests a dance between the piece and the viewer. This is where I find my inspiration to continue creating.” – Peter Cunicelli
