Landscape in Her Mind
In this body of work, there are references to landscapes – volcanoes, bodies of water and land-based forms inspired by my years in Southeast Asia and America. Some are imaginary islands – inner landscapes of memory seen from above. Others are emotional responses to paintings from great masters such as the work of Michelangelo in the Sistine Chapel but they are all still created with landscapes in mind. – Donna Backues
