The open call for the 2023 ICCI ART VALLEY PROGRAM of the USC-SJTU Institute of Cultural and Creative (ICCI) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University will focus on the international group of artists who create and practice art based on comprehensive media materials. In a technocracy, cultural integration, and the rapid development of cross-media practices, contemporary art has developed its tentacles to a broader dimension by relying on the new era context. It is an opportunity to allow the public to observe the greater possibilities behind this contemporary landscape in the artistic practices that take place in the physical space: a new spatial landscape constructed by physical and virtual spaces, new thinking on the modern human landscape based on the "human scale"; And, as we immerse ourselves in and take for granted the new world brought about by technological development, how will we "carelessly" accept the arrival of new technologies and get and examine the public landscape shaped by them?
With an open perspective and cross-media practice as the starting point, the ICCI ART VALLEY PROGRAM encourages artists to combine personal experience and visual culture around the multiple concepts brought by integrated media art creation and bring new languages and narratives into the design of artists' different media, to reflect and spawn a series of imaginations and discussions involving viewing and interactive experience, media ethics and media language.
The USC-SJTU Institute of Cultural and Creative (ICCI) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University is openly recruiting five international artists and scholars to participate in the ICCI ART VALLEY PROGRAM from November 1 to December 15, 2023. Selected visiting artists (scholars) will hold exhibitions at the Art Museums in downtown Shanghai, the Virtual Space, and the Shanghai Jiao Tong University History Museum.
